| | exhausted | ] | I tell ya, it's one thing or another with my family. My grandpa was taken to the hospital last friday. He had a heart attack. He refused surgery since there was a 50/50 chance with or without it. So, I spent most of last weekend at the hospital with him and my grandma. My parents were also there most of the time. On Monday I went right away in the morning(he was not suppose to make through sunday nite)and by 11:15 he was gone. I have never actually watched someone die before and hopefully never will have to again. I wanted to be there for my grandma and for my own sanity also so it was all worth it. The ceremony and luncheon on Thursday were very nice. We decided not to take Alex. (grandpa was cremated and how do you explain that to a 7 yr old who was just in a burn accident?)
On a lighter note, everything else has been going ok. Brittny is just about done with cheerleading. Alex has a follow up apt in Madison on monday so she gets a free day off of school. (apt is at 945 and we probably wont make it back into town til 2 or after and school is out at 3 so why bother?)Adrian has decided to drift back into the " I am not going to do my homework " phase again. 5 weeks into the new school year and he has 2 d's and an f. I don't know what to do with him.....But I guess he will figure it out sooner or later...Hopefully sooner. |

| | chipper | ] | Wow! I haven't been on here in forever!!!! So much has happened since my last posting that I don't even know where to start.....Let's see...Adrian did not get better. He got way worse and hopefully now is better. We haven't had too many problems the last 3 weeks or so. Still smoking, but as a smoker cannot tell him he has to stop. But as a parent and it being illegal for him to do can tell him not in my presence and not in my house.(he tends to dispose of them in a not very safe way.) Brittny is a sophmore now. Damn! I am old. She is a varsity football cheerleader. ( who would have ever thought I would have a preppy jock for a daughter.)Adrian is trudging through 8th grade. So far so good....Alex had a bad accident this summer and ended up getting skin graphs and we lived in Madison for two and 1/2 weeks. She is better, but will have to deal with the healing and scars(hopefully none)the rest of her life. Whew!!!!! That was the condensed version. Work is great! Love my job! Could get paid more, but hey who doesn't think that? Otherwise, things are good. Looking forward to hearing back from you guys! Catch me up with everything I missed. |

| | calm | ] | I can't believe it is almost January 2006! Where has the time gone? Nothing much going on around here. Jason's grandma died the monday before Christmas. It kind of put a damper on the holiday cheer, but we are all doing much better now. Jason, too. I have a 3 day weekend over New Years. I can't wait.... Need some time to do absolutely nothing. Looking forward to it. The kids are getting sick of each other. It must be time to go back to school. I was just getting ready to tuck the kids in and Alex stopped downstairs to tell me she was ready and is reading back to me what I have just typed. Crazy kid! She really enjoys reading. I hope her interest in learning continues.
Not much to update on. Still enjoy my job. Total miracle but a nice change. Having some people over for New Years. Nothing big. Just munchies and beer/booze what have you. I definitely need to undwind. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and hope the New Year is a great one. |

| | Nine Inch Nails Downward Spiral CD | ] | Let's see....where to start. Have not had many chances to update lately. We have had a crazy november so far. Found out that Adrian has 3 d's on his report card. From not turning in homework. What I don't understand is the fact that he does it, and then doesn't turn it in. I knew he was doing it because his teacher and myself have been going over the homework daily and signing off on his assignment notebook. But he doesn't turn it all in. ? ? ? He also decided to take off from school the thursday before thanksgiving and he walked to La Crosse. Knowing his father was going to school to pick him up. So we spent about 5 hours looking for him. Had to call the police, stop at his friends houses and call most of the ones we know he hangs out with. Not impressed at all. He ended up on the way south side of La Crosse. For those of you who know La Crosse, he was past the south side Walmart and over the bridge before you head to the Coonvalley/Stoddard split. He ended up at a friends house who used to live in West Salem and moved there over the summer. The funny part ( well for me anyways considering the situation ) was that his friend wasn't home when he got there. To make a long story short, we hunted and hunted, his step mom ended up at this friends house after we figured out where he was headed and had a "lovely" confrontation with this friends mother. She proceeded to tell step mom how abused Adrian was. That he had cigarette burns all over him and we keep crack in the house. WHAT????? From what Bee said the lady was completely out of it, slurring her words and not making any sense.... by this time the police called us back to say they have him in transport back to West Salem. When Dave I get down to the station, Adrian tries telling us that he left because he was worried about his conferences. Which his dad and I both came back with, " you already knew your grades, what is there to be worried about?" Then he tried to tell us that he left because the discipline in the house is too hard and for too long. Did I forget to mention that he has been stealing, smoking, doing drugs and I found out he has done shots of vodka? From what all the experts say, we are doing what needs to be done before he gets out of control. Needless to say, by the end of the nite right before his dad took him to his house, he finally came clean and said he was using those things for excuses so he wouldn't get in trouble. And to top it off, his friends mom told him to lie to the police so he wouldn't get in trouble. EXCUSE ME!!!!! That woman is sooo lucky I didn't press charges against her. DAMN!!!! You would think one mother to another....Maybe I should call the boys mother and let her know he is ok...nope. Didn't. I couldn't believe it.
Things are a little more mild now. Adrian is now working on his grades and trying to get any late work in that they will still give him credit for. Also seeing his behavior health doctor every other week. I don't know what more to do to help him understand the severity of the situation. All we ask for is C's in school (which, if he puts his mind to it, he can get B's... I've seen it), respect, and to do what is asked of him. We aren't that awful. And I have tried to give him examples of some parents that are. I did tell him that I will not play the runaway game. Didn't like it when kids did it when I was in school and I won't put up with it from him. And to lie about the reason why. Not cool! His friend actually called today and I explained to him that Adrian will not have the phone back until his f's are up. I also explained to him that I am not impressed with his mother and I would like to talk to her, but not today because I am still pretty mad. I made sure to tell him it wasn't anything against him and that Adrian will call when his grades are up.
I just don't understand. I have a 15 year old daughter who lives in this same house who really does a great job on a daily basis. Other that a few roll of the eyes or sassy tones, we really don't have too many problems with Brittny. And her rules are the same as Adrian's. All the kids are treated equal. Ask her about the d she got on her report card....hasn't had one since. Didn't like being grounded from the phone...Oh my god, no phone? what will I do? I do make sure to tell her what a good girl she is though. She really helps me out around here. And that goes for Adrian too. Nothing but sweet rewards when he earns them. Drinking, smoking, drugs ect....Means not much of a life.
All in all, We are doing ok. And people wonder why I have grey hair...My job is going great! I can actually say that I like my job. First time in....forever. Adrian is back in hockey. Brittny is taking a horses and small animals class and she is now the proud owner of a bunny. She is really cute too.. She came home and visited during Thanksgiving break. We had to put Panda to sleep in October. I just got a new shitzu 2 weeks ago. His name is Jimmy. So very cute, and playful. He chases the cats around the house. Fucking hilarius. And doing really good with the potty training. He is only 10 weeks old. Not so bad for a puppy. That about wraps up my last 3 weeks. Hopefully I will have more good news the next time I update. Sorry for the long update...Had to vent a little. Have a great day everyone!!! |

| | content | ] | Have been a little busy the last few days....Brit turned 15 on monday the 24th....GOD! 15....WOW! We left for Cali on Wed and have been here since 11:30 Wednesday nite. Drive to the cities was fairly uneventful minus a few baha trips over a couple medians to make our exit, but we made it to the airport with about 45 min to spare. The plane ride was smooth. Landed about 11:15pm California time. We have been going non stop. Decided to update while the kids are sleeping. ( Only took them about 7.5 seconds to fall asleep. ) We definitely wore them out. Thursday we went and did the tourist things...Walk of fame downtown Hollywood, TV show tour thing (set of startreck, cheers and prop stuff). We also did a tour of the sites on the hollywood trolly. Finished the day with Universal Studios. Friday we spent the day at Majic Mountain. And I mean the whole day. Left at 10:00 and got back around 1:00am the next morning. The roller coasters there where some of the freakiest, but coolest ones I have ever been on. We also got a western picture of all of us taken. It turned out pretty cool. Today we spent the day beach hopping. First we took the kids to Santa Monica pier. We walked around the ocean for awhile and took some pictures. Then we blew about $25 on the arcade. A little goofy golf and then we were off to Venice Beach. That is my favorite city in California so far. Mellow, laid back....Totally hippie and totally me. Got some kick ass pics of the sunset....It was a bit chilly by the time we hit Venice beach, but my son wanting to be able to tell people he swam in the ocean, went swimming for about a half hour. And I swear he was blue when he came out. But that is Adrian..Always doing what he wants. The sun was out, but there was one hell of a breeze coming off of the ocean. Still, it was worth it. Tonight we just walked around Hollywood Blvd, ate some dinner and bought some t-shirts and crap.
Now I get to look forward to flying out sunday at noon, hitting the cities around 6:00 pm and then driving home...FUN! At least grandma is taking Alex another nite and taking her to school on Monday. Didn't want to have to wake her up at 9-9:30 and bring her home just to put her back to bed. This way I can get Brittny and Adrian home, somewhat unpacked and some laundry started. It has been a good vacation for all of us. We are exhausted, but it was worth it. I have to go to work on Monday, but I have Tuesday off and I think most of that day will be spent sleeping..... |

| | frustrated | ] | I cannot believe it!!! I am sooo mad and disappointed and.... and ..... I just don't know. You are not going to believe this either. Remember the "yay, kudos to adrian" and all of that? Not even 2 wks later, I have teachers calling me and grades being sent in the mail. He is back to 2 D's and an F. Just within in about a week and a half. He is not turning in homework and is telling his accademic assistant teacher lies about how he is working with mom on projects at home and then coming home and telling me his projects were at school being worked on in class. He didn't turn in a huge science project that was worth 100 points. He finished it but thought he would not turn it in and left it in his locker. He had 3 missing math assignments (which I don't understand because he showed me math homework every nite ) and he didn't turn in a map or something for social studies. I don't understand... To make a long story short, he is back to being restricted and now I am making sure he is staying at his after school assistance class every day. Homework or not he is staying...That way his teacher can make the final say on whether or not everything is finished and if not, he has time to do it. What in the world am I going to do with him????? I could tell something was up and I actually had a half written letter to the teacher when I received the grades in the mail. So, we are checking in every week with the grades and the behavior and hopefully that will help. It's almost like he likes it. Not the being restricted of course, but maybe the challenge to become unrestricted? I don't know. I am so glad he had his doctor apt this week too. We spent the whole time talking with him together about grades and work and having to do it. He is set in the mind frame that he doesn't have to do what he doesn't want to do...It's driving me nuts...
On a brighter note, the new job is going great. I actually like what I am doing and I haven't been able to say that in awhile....I don't have an assigned team under me yet, but that is in the works...
If anyone has any ideas or things to try regarding my boy, please feel free to post them.....I am at a loss. |

Love it...Accepted it. Started on Monday....We really needed the extra money..The same day I was offerred the job, Jason was informed the company he was working at through Olstens is hiring him on permanently....Great news also...Really need that extra money too. Now, if things really do happen in three's, maybe I should play the lottery...(as if that would happen). The kids have all gotten school pics done so we should have them by mid november. (hnos....I will get copies out to you the DAY i get them)
We have one more full week home before we leave for California. I am really looking forward to getting away for awhile. It is just a short trip (wed thru sund) but at least we can get out there for a little bit....And since Steve is still living there, no extra cost for hotel. Brit and Adrian are pretty excited to go. It should be a great fam vacation. We get back on the 30th. Just in time for trick or treating....
All for now..I still have to dump my bulk/spam mail from not being on the computer for about a week or so...That will take at least an hour.... |

| | Theme song from Aurthur...Alex is watching pbs | ] | Well, I have had two very productive weekends. The weekend before last we went to Dave and B's wedding. Very nice, sweet and to the point. The reception was a lot of fun. Scot, Danielle, Jack, Melsy, and of course Red 6 made it even better. Adrian seemed to enjoy himself. And he made a heck of a ring boy. I made him a cute little ring pillow and every thing. Dave gave the wedding party flasks and asked me what Adrian would enjoy. ( no flask for the boy ) So he picked out a cute kid sized mug and had his name engraved in silver. Pretty cool...Adrian must have drank 15 of those filled with pepsi. When he came down, he really crashed and burned. Some how karoke found its way at the reception...Interesting, but fun to watch. Brittny got up there and surprised all of us. That chick can really sing....Voice lesson may be in her future.
Of course, this past weekend was octoberfest. The parade was great as always. Especially since Brit was marching with the high school band. Of course we all yelled and made a scene when she came by. Afterwards, Jason and I met up with Renee and Aaron. First nite away from the baby. It was alot of fun!
Not much going on as of now. I am going to just take it easy and do some work around the house for the next couple of weeks. Have to get things organized before we head out to california on the 26th. The kids seem pretty excited!
Oh yeah, Adrian is holding the grades at passing ( c's )so we let him go to the homecoming game last friday. He pretty much has all of his freedom back except he doesn't just get to run from the time school gets out to the time it gets dark. Now most of his friends just hang out over here. He is looking forward to going trick or treating alone with his friends. I think we have finally come to an understanding...Just because Jason is working second shift, doesn't mean you can walk all over mom. And I think it is sinking in. YAY!!!! |

And my kids have a NASTY disease...It's called "I can't function with out the phone growing out of my head." I swear to every sacred being up above that I will disconnect it before I have them take it over. Ok....I feel much better now.
Went camping last weekend for my birthday. Had a great time. Renee and Aaron came to town for their neice's b-day party so they stopped by the campground and I got to hold and love Shelby for awhile. What a cute little peanut. (Hey Hnoss, I have a couple of pics that I will email on to you.) Danielle and Scott came and camped too...Her birthday was the same day as mine. And they actually had NO children with them. Probably first time in 6 months or so. I am glad they had a good time.
Let's see, what else has happened in the last few weeks....My friend Eric and his fiance' called off the wedding. It was a mutual thing and they are actually still friends and still talk. Probably a good thing they called off the wedding. Pregnant or not, it is not always the right thing to do. The piece of crap house across the street from us actually sold. Was for sale forever... They are currently residing the house and putting on a new roof. It was baaaddd news. It sold for about 39,000 as is if that tells you anything.... The only problem now is the construction guys and the dumpster taking up all of our parking. I swear I parked a block away today just to get to my house.
That is pretty much it for now.....I still have at least a half hour to catch up on lj. |

Congrats to them. My brother John will be getting married next May and Kristy will be doing it in September.
Still haven't heard from my good friend Renee about her baby. She was due on Aug 18th and still nothing. Last I heard, they gave her an ultrasound and said the baby seems to be about 10lbs. WOW! My biggest one was 8lbs. I can't even imagine....
We have two weddings to go to in September...One right after the other. Might go camping for my birthday. Have to try and squeeze one more camping trip in. And then before you know it....Octoberfest. And we all know what comes after Octoberfest....Winter. YUCK!!!! I really should move some where that doesn't have snow...Just can't stand it any more. |

Just trying to get all the school supplies and clothes for the school year. We had a birthday in the house. Adrian is 12 now. He raked in a dinner at Famous Daves and a bunch of money and gift cards. Which we promptly spent the next day. We spent an afternoon at Hot Topic and Pennys at the mall. He has a couple pair of new jeans now ( all black ) a couple of cool t-shirts ( he picked out an Ozzy shirt, a Black Sabath Shirt, an Iron Maiden shirt and the one I picked out which was a black t-shirt with a boom box on the front in a kinda yellow-tan color, but when you look at it, it looks like a skull. )Did I mention all his shirts were black too? He also got more nail polish, bracelets, and a stocking cap (black) with a big red anarchy sign on it. When you turn it inside out, its black and red striped...
Brittny is in tennis now. She has been practicing twice a day, 2 hours per practice. She is pretty excited about being on varsity tennis. I wish her lots of luck.
Alex is trying to grow her bangs out now, so we have been trying to pin them back with something. Clippies, barettes, whatever I can find...Of course she decides to do this right before school. If she would have done it in the beginning of summer, her bangs would be pretty long by now. She is pretty excited to start the 1st grade. Her teacher is having a before school bash out at her house. I am kind of jealous. The teachers never did that when I was in school. |

| HELP!!!! |
[Jul. 27th, 2005|05:54 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | confused | ] | Well, I seem to have not posted in awhile....Again! The whole last week has been consumed with trying to get my boy to realize that he is only 11 yrs old (ok...almost 12) and he HAS to do what his parents tell him to do. He is now seeing a behavioral health doctor and hopefully that will help some of his defiant behavior. After our first session with the doc, it is clear that Adrian thinks it is ok to do what HE wants to do. Not what We want him to do. Hopefully, with us seeing this doctor, we can figure out if it is just Adrian not wanting to follow rules or if he actually has something going on in his head that isn't putting 2 and 2 together. I don't know what it is....but whatever it is....it's going to stop!
To make a long story short, he was grounded for bad grades after telling us he was bringing home all C's....After the grounding.... I find out he broke into our shed and took his sisters bike, replaced the bike and then screwed the lock back in place. (after he lied right to our faces when QUESTIONED...not scolded about it...) ( we didnt find out who did it for sure for over a week) I also found out he was skipping swimming lessons and lying about what he was doing during class when I asked him about it... Just a bunch of lies, lies and more lies... I really am at a dead stand still and do not know what to do besides keep seeing the doctor....any ideas? |

| HOT! |

| | aggravated | ] | WOW! I can't believe I haven't updated in awhile. I must be slipping. Actually, I work on a computer all day and then really don't want to see one when I get home....
Everything here is good. It has been so DAMN hot outside the kids and I have been going to the beach or the pool just to sit in the water. It isn't even cool and refreshing. Feels like you are sitting in a warm bath...Oh well, at least it is something to do.
Haven't really done anything too exciting....Been looking for a new job. Other than that I have been trying to keep the kids entertained. I have Friday off this week along with Tuesday so I think Friday I might take the kids for a picnic or something for the day. Maybe down to Blue Bird so they can go swimming....Something fun anyways. That is if the heat stays away. We had a high of 99 degrees yesterday. I can't believe all the brown grass around here. We are technically now in a minor drought situation. I just keep watering my plants and grass and then I will have a heart attack when the water and electric bill comes...But hey, isn't that the way it is suppose to be? You work to pay the bills.... |

| | content | ] | Camping was great as usual. It was a good thing there is a pool and shade because it was DAMN hot out this weekend. And my bright red shoulders prove it. ( ow! ) It is so fun watching the kids play together. The campsite we had was right by a creek and Alex and Olivia played in that for hours.. They cought buckets full of water bugs. Which, I think is funny because they look like spiders and those two girls hate spiders. When I asked Alex about the water bugs looking like spiders, she said, "they are water bugs mom, not spiders" So, in a 6 yr olds mind, the name of the bug is what makes it scary.
Today I think I will sit in my air conditioning and read a book. I don't get to read much and since Alex is at day care I think I will take advantage of that.... She had to go today because it is swimming day. She even took her matress and fun noodle. Of course there is always laundry to do. I will just hang it on the line....It will be dry in about an hour with this heat. But at least it is not humid out. I can handle hot, not hot and humid. I just hate it when its sticky! : ) |

| | chipper | ] | Happy 4th of July! I had to work this morning. UGH! I was scheduled from 7 am to 11 but I was told I could leave at 9:15....Why did I have to get up early on the 4th of July to work if I was only going to put in 2 hours and then get told to go home? Whatever!! At least I have the rest of the day free.
Going to drive to Gailesville this evening to watch their 4th of July fireworks. My dad has a pyrotechnics biz and his company is doing their fireworks so I will go support Dad.... Alot less crazy than trying to watch in La Crosse...Way too many people and it takes forever to get through the traffic afterwards. Not doing too much this afternoon other than some laundry and a much needed nap.
Off to the campground again next weekend. Have to get it in while we can. I can't believe it is July already! Not much summer left. *sigh* I can't wait to go to the pool/beach with Alex this week. She has 2 swimming lessons left and she has improved soooo much. A little trouble with the kicking and the arm work for the front crawl, but she can float on her back all by herself now and she floats forever. She is so very proud of herself because she can jump in the pool with her feet instead of sitting and going in. We have mastered the "holding of the breath" so we don't drink half of the pool. Yay! Now I won't be such a nervous wreck while she is swimming. That child just doesn't have any fear in the water....Now mom will feel a little more comfortable about her not wanting me next to her the whole time. |

| | The Lion King opening song...alex is watching it | ] | Well, it's been....hmmmm...let me think....almost 3 wks since school got out and the kids are already on each other's last nerve. HELP! And to think what it would be like if they weren't in summer school from 9 - 12?! JEEPERS!!!! Adrian is taking his grounding as best as he can I guess. He knows it doesn't matter if he wines and complains about being bored, or " I am going to lose my mind "....I just throw back a "next time maybe we will get c's and above for grades. And a little effort would be good also." He doesn't really have much to say after that. Oh yeah, Hnos...Adrian read your message..(well, what i could get the computer to print off, i filled in the rest) and he smiled at the " you can call me a bitch now " comment. I told him everyone knows he can do better and he said he would this next year. But I have also been hearing that since the latter part of 4th grade when he figured out how he could not do assignments and the teachers would let him make it up. So keep your fingers crossed that next year will be different!
Everything else here is pretty good. Hopefully I can finally turn the air off tonight and give my electric bill a break. ( I am scared to open that bill when it comes ) Alex is doing good in swimming lessons and Brittny isn't really home much these days....Miss social butterfly has a group of one or two really good friends and they have been having sleep overs and such. We are going to go camping again the weekend of the 8th and 9th. I really don't enjoy camping during the holiday weekends. Too busy and most of the camp grounds here make you stay til that monday....That gets a little long with all the kids with and by then I am craving my own bed.....
My wonderful hubby took me shopping the other day and I got some really cute outfits....Two scorts - one is a jean scort and the other one is a sweatshirt like material....SOOOO comfy! I also got a long cotton white skirt and a long....not sure how to explain....brown, green and tan pheasant skirt? I got a brown t-shirt to go with it. I also picked up a few shirts...(have to have something to match the new duds) and a funky pair of sandals/flip flops....they are kinda gold and shiny with sequence around the strap on the foot and around the big toe. Fabulous....they match my brown skirt/shirt combo. Hey Hnos....Remember the swimsuit story? The swimsuit I ran across while I was there was 25% off and it was still $72.00 That is totally insane! I don't need a suit that bad! The only thing that sucks about shopping is the trying on..I hate trying on clothes. And the mirrors they have make you look 10 times bigger than you are. YUCK! It could just be that it is close to that time and I am a little moody.... Bad time to go shopping! |
